Lost Sweatshirts To Be Donated

Please don’t forget to check the lost and found at school this week. After this week, all sweatshirts will be donated to the Avon Middle School 1,000 Sweatshirts Campaign. Thank you!

From the 1,000 Sweatshirts Campaign …

To everyone who wants to help the community,

When you clean out your closets, how many extra sweatshirts do you pull out that don’t fit, or you just don’t like anymore? Instead of having them lying around on your bedroom floors or throwing them out, please consider donating them to people in need.

We are a group of 7th grade students at Avon Middle School, and we are trying to collect 1,000 sweatshirts to donate to local charities and homeless shelters. Our idea is that many families in our community have “at least one” sweatshirt they no longer wear or need.

From now through February 7th, you can give or drop off sweatshirts to our committee members’ houses. On Saturday, February 7th, please help us with our final push to reach our goal of 1,000 sweatshirts by dropping them off at Hartford Hospital’s Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center (80 Fisher Drive, Avon) from 10am-4pm.

All sweatshirts will be donated to the Hartford Boys and Girls Club, The Village for Families and Children, Gifts of Love, and local homeless shelters. They will give the sweatshirts to people who need help keeping warm the rest of the winter season. Our only requirement is that the sweatshirts are GENTLY USED and CLEAN. Please join us in helping to keep our community warm for the rest of the cold winter.

Remember: A little warmth goes a long way,
