Mission

Our By-laws state the official purpose of the Thompson Brook School PTO. In summary, our projects, programs, and services focus on:

Administrative and Physical Plant Support     Parent volunteers maintain the beautiful planters at both entrances, as well as coordinate the extra care that is needed for school grounds, gardens, and the Nature Trail. The spectacularly creative bulletin boards in the school foyer, and the photocopies that travel home in backpacks are PTO-sponsored. We coordinate room parents, promote public awareness of the great things that happen at TBS, and assist in the library and book room. The PTO Board launched this website and manages it, along with its Facebook Page, throughout the year.

Extracurricular Activities and Clubs     PTO facilitates the before- and after-school activities and clubs that enhance your child’s educational experience. Check the PTO website often starting mid-September for new offerings. Please make every effort to return your registration and payment in a timely manner. Financial assistance may be available on a limited basis for students who wish to participate in classes or clubs, but cannot afford the fees. Communicate with Ms. Toyen or contact Ms. Watson directly for a confidential meeting.

Fundraising     The PTO solicits donations, applies for grants, participates in collection programs, and raises money via school fundraisers to finance its budget. We do not charge membership dues. Volunteers raise money with the assistance of teachers and the support of TBS families.

Hospitality, Care, Outreach     PTO cares about TBS families, teachers, and our community beyond. Collection drives for food and cold-weather wear are standard every year at TBS. We show our appreciation for teachers by serving lunch during parent-teacher conferences, and by doing special things for them on Teacher Appreciation Day  and during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Spirit     Students look forward to their grade-specific activities at year-end, and PTO volunteers work closely with teachers to plan and execute them. Parent volunteers work hard all year to publish the greatly anticipated TBS yearbook. Spirit Days allow students and teachers alike to let their TBS enthusiasm shine.
